Confusion as the management of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, disowned a player who claimed to be a member of the 3SC feeder team, arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged internet fraud.
This is just as Ogini Olatunbosun, formerly 3SC player and now on loan to Crown FC said he was not arrested by EFCC.
The responses came after the Ibadan office of the anti-graft agency said on Tuesday that it arrested one Ogini Oluwaseyi Dayo, a member of the 3SC feeder team.
According to the club’s media officer, Tosin Omojola, 3SC denied the knowledge of the arrest of any of their players and that the feeder team no longer exit.
“Our attention has been drawn to a report linking one, Ogini Oluwaseyi Dayo , reported to have been arrested by the EFFC, to the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan.
“We would like to inform the public that 3SC currently do not have a player named Ogini Oluwaseyi Dayo and that the team does not even have a feeder team as at this moment, following the disbanded of the feeder team over a year ago.
“Although the said Ogini was formerly of the disbanded feeder team, he had left the club five years ago, even before the eventual dissolution of the feeder team.
“What we have presently is an Academy and the coaches of the young lads confirmed that the said Ogini Oluwaseyi Dayo has not been training with them
“The only player named Ogini, who recently played for 3SC and has since been loaned to Crown FC, where he is presently plying his trade is Ogini Olatunbosun”, Omojola stated.
Team Manager of the club, Dimeji Lawal, confirmed that the only player, who was with 3SC and later joined Crown FC of Ogbomoso on loan, is known fully as Ogini Olatunbosun.
“We don’t have any player called Ogini Oluwaseyi Dayo, neither do we have a feeder team at the moment”, said the ex international.
Meanwhile, Ogini Olatunbosun also came out to clear the air on the issue, stating that EFCC did nt arrest him.
“Ogini Olatunbosun is my own name and not Oluwaseyi Dayo and I am presently with Crown FC of Ogbomoso on loan from 3SC,” declared the former Osun United player.
The EFCC said it arrested Ogini alongside his brother-in-law, Alabi Okikiola; and his friend, Jonas Okwuwe; at a location within the Fortune Estate, Ologuneru Olonde area of Ibadan.
Their arrest followed a petition from a neighbour, who raised high suspicion on the reckless and flamboyant life the suspect live, without any known reasonable source of income.
