A member of the House of Representatives, representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency, Honourable Shina Peller has charged Christians to use the festive period to pray for peace, unity and prosperity in the country.
Honourable Peller stated this in his goodwill message to Christians on the occasion of Christmas celebration, where he decribed Jesus Christ as a symbol of peace that all faithful Christians must emulate.
The statement read in full: “I rejoice with my Christian brothers and sisters, both at home and in the diaspora, on the occasion of 2022 Christmas celebration.
“I urge the faithful Christians to use the festive season to pray to God for peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria.
“Commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ without us reflecting deeply on his personality and emulating his good virtues, humility, tolerance, courage and sacrificial acts to humanity will be meaningless.
“The season should be more of service to humanity in line with the genuine teaching of Jesus Christ which emphasizes patience, fairness, forgiveness, care for the needy, love for one another, kindness among many other virtues.
“So, as we wine and dine on this Christmas day, we must strive to be true followers of Jesus Christ by embracing all the good things that he stood for. Jesus Christ is a symbol of peace and a perfect example of what a good Christian should be; let’s emulate him.
“Once again, Merry Christmas to you all. I pray that we witness many more of it on earth as we face the future with renewed hope and confidence.”
