The statement quoted Akintunde, who is one of the aspirants vying to succeed Governor Abiola Ajimobi under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as remembering how as a young child, he looked forward to Xmas period even as a Muslim.

It reads: “We look forward to the time, especially as it provided avenue for us to meet our loved ones who have had to travel to far places with their parents. We shared jokes. We narated experiences. We ate and dine together. Together with some of them, today was born. There was no discrimination along religious line, even when our parents were not in good terms.”

“The good old days can be re-ignited only if we can shun divisive tendencies and iron out our differences. The time has come for us to embrace ourselves on the merit of what we can offer for developmental purposes and nothing else.”

Urging Christians to use the opportunity to seek God’s face, he advised them to extend kind gesture to their neighbours, especially those who are in need.

He prayed God to continuously be with ‎the people and preserve their lives to celebrate more Xmas on earth.‎‎ Yunus Akintunde has enjoined Nigerians, to live peacefully and be tolerant of each other.
