The Lawmaker representing Saki East/Atisbo Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Riliwan Gbadamosi Popularly known as Wale Canada has felicitated with children across his constituency and Nigeria as a whole on the occasion of this year’s Children’s day celebration.
Wale Canada, in his goodwill message as contained in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen on Wednesday, charged children to be good ambassadors of their families, shun anti social vices and be of good behavior so that they can have a brighter future.
The statement read in part: “I felicitate with the children of Saki East/Atisbo Local Government Areas and children across the country on this occasion of Children’s Day celebration.
“Children’s Day is an event celebrated in Nigeria on every May 27th. The day is simply set to honour children and minors.”
The lawmaker also used the opportunity to reassure the children his commitment towards promoting bills that will ensure that children in Oyo State are protected and empowered to aspire to be great in life, and to remove all impediments in their way.
The statement further said: “Despite the current economic and funding challenges facing our country and state as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the Oyo State Government under the able leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde will continue to do all within its powers to achieve better living conditions and greater access to quality healthcare and education for all our children.”
He therefore appeal to the children to be patient with the government regarding the closure of their school as part of measures to curtail the ravaging covid-19 pandemic while assuring them schools would be opened soonas promised by the government and academic activities would commence.
He further stated that the task of training up a child should not be left for parents alone because when a child becomes irresponsible, the child will become a problem not just for the parents but for the society at large.
