Some members of the proscribed National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), in Oyo State, have raised the alarm over what they described as overbearing attitude on the part of the Chairman, Disciplinary Committee of the Park Management System (PMS), Mr Mukaila Lamidi popularly known as Auxiliary.
The Park Management System (PMS) is a body set up by the Oyo State Government to manage the activities of commercial vehicle activities following the proscription of NURTW activities in the state.
The NURTW members in a statement signed by their spokesperson, Babatunde Owolabi, alleged that Lamidi has been going to various offices of theNURTW located around the state taking possession of properties belonging to the union.
It further noted that: “We do not understand the rationale behind his moving around and breaking into offices and taking possession of properties belonging to NURTW. To the the best of our understanding, he was appointed the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee for the Park Management System. Or can we say he is now the chairman of the NURTW in the state? Even if he is the chairman, does it mean he is at liberty to be breaking into offices and moving properties belonging to the union to an unknown destination?.
“These are the questions we want the Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde and the Commissioner of Police in the state to help ask Lamidi. Because he should not because of the fact that he was appointed the chairman of PMS be going beyond his boundaries. NURTW is a body recognised by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), we do not know that of the PMS.
“We therefore call on the governor and the Commissioner of Police in the state to call Lamidi to order before his armed robber-like attitude resulted into public disorder as members of the union may no longer tolerate this barbaric and irresponsible behaviour of his.” The statement read.
