University of Ibadan Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abel Idowu Olayinka has urged businessmen and entrepreneurs in Nigeria to imitate Bovas and Company Limited by building their business model on trust and integrity.
Prof. Olayinka who spoke at the ground-breaking ceremony of the Bovas and Company Limited at the second gate of the University of Ibadan, Ajibode junction where the oil company plans to open a station, remarked that trust and integrity are key components in any business that will succeed.
According to the VC, ‘nobody likes to be cheated. Nobody will be happy to have been cheated by anyone. Bovas is trustworthy. It is as if Bovas is the only oil company in Nigeria with the amount of good reports concerning the company. Everyone testifies to the integrity records of Bovas. People say you get accurate measure of what you are buying. This is what is called integrity. And, I will like to call on all businessmen and women as well as entrepreneurship to imitate Bovas oil company’
Prof. Olayinka who equally called on the UI School of Business and UI Ventures to study the business model of Bovas, disclosed that UI as a premier university in the country was enthusiastic to collaborate with Bovas in order to exemplify the concept of Public-Private Partnership.
In his own remarks, the Chairman, Bovas and Company Limited, Arc. Bamidele Samson, along with his wife who is also the Managing Director, Dr. Mrs. Victoria Samson disclosed that Bovas which was established in 1980 has been growing steadily by the grace of God, coupled with the good reports coming from various people.
Architect Samson who urged people to keep praying for the company promised that the company would not trifle with the good image it has created in the minds of the people, pointing out that if anybody noticed any underhand dealing with any staff, Bovas management should be notified immediately.
According to him, ‘we have come here to serve both the University and the community around this place. We want to thank you for giving us the opportunity. It is one thing to run around for profit, it is another thing to ensure transparency. Bovas will not disappoint you because we will not compromise our integrity’
