The lawmaker representing Oyo North senatorial district in The Senate, Dr. AbdulFatai Buhari yesterday visited the Oke-Ado, Ibadan office of the Oyo State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC.
Buhari, who chairs the senate committee on ICT committee and cybercrime, commended the party leadership for holding forth and ensuring the party is intact since the time of struggle for power till date.
He urged party leaders to ensure transparency and open field in the selection of candidates for the next election, advising them not to relent in their efforts in preparing the party for victory in the coming election and promised to continue to support the party.
This is coming after leaders of the party had promised to ensure level playing ground for all members aspiring for elective positions in 2019.
The party chairman, Chief Akin Oke, said that the party is open to every body and will allow free, fair and credible primary elections for all aspirants.
Hear him: “At the party level, we have agreed that no member of the Exco or state working committee should campaign or openly support any aspirants,” saying further that the party is poised for victory in 2019 as none of the opposing parties in the state have the capacity to match APC.
He disclosed that some aspirants including Alhaji Yunus Akintunde, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, Barr. Adebayo Shittu, out of the over 30 aspirants jostling for the seat have visited the party to declare their intention to vie for the gubernatorial position in 2019.
While welcoming Buhari earlier, the party vice chairman Alhaji Isiaka Alimi described Senator Buhari as a strong pillar of the party in Oyo state
According to him, Buhari, who is a former member of the House of Representatives, has been very supportive to the party and his programmes and activities in his constituency are impressive and commendable.
