A member of the House of Representatives representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency, Oyo State, Honourable Shina Peller has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to sign into law the electoral act amendment bill passed by the two chambers of the National Assembly.
Hon. Peller made this call on Friday while congratulating the president on the occasion of his 79th birthday, adding that the country’s number one citizen is a leader with good intentions.
In his congratulatory message, Hon. Peller acknowledged the efforts of the president since he assumed office, describing the signing into law of the Not Too Young To Run bill as a commendable decision.
In the same vein, the federal legislator stressed that for Mr. President to further complement his efforts so far, it would be great for him to hand over to the younger generation an electoral system that can produce a good and qualified successor, adding that a leader is not successful until he finds a great successor.
The statement read in full:
“I celebrate our dear number one citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari as he adds another year today.
“Mr President sir, we know that you’re a leader with good intentions, and since you assumed office as a democratic President you have continued to put in your best in running the affairs of our country – ensuring that we get things right.
“The signing of the Not Too Young To Run bill into law – reducing the age limit for running for elective office in Nigeria was outstanding.
“Thus, to further complement your efforts, it would be fantastic to hand over to the younger generation an electoral system that can produce a good and qualified successor. A leader is not successful until he finds a great successor.
“I pray that God continues to grant President Buhari sound health, guide and strengthen him in all ways as he goes on piloting the affairs of our dear country. And above all, may he be succeeded by a better leader.
“Amen. Once again, Happy Birthday to you sir, dear President.”
