Oloye Benedict Akika, a respected grassroots mobilizer and public figure, marked his birthday on July 9 with the official launching of the Omituntun Benedict Foundation (OBF) as a legal non-governmental organization (NGO) for global acceptance.
The incorporation of OBF coinciding with his birthday has been hailed by many as a symbolic gesture of Akika’s lifelong commitment to service, empowerment, and community transformation.
The official launching was performed by Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, the Executive Chairman of Oluyole, who applauded the efforts of the foundation for the past 10 years and its impacts across Oyo State.
“The Omituntun Benedict Foundation has been doing great work, and I promise to contribute to the foundation, which I believe will be led by the Overall Leader of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde,” Olatunji said.
Traditional Leaders, including Elejioku of Ejioku Oba Bashiru Adeshina and Onilalupo of Lalupo Oba Muniru Arigbabuwo, expressed deep gratitude to God and to the people who have supported the journey of OBF so far.
“The impact of Omituntun Benedict Foundation on Olorunda-Abaa Police Station brought the development of Akobo – Olorunda-Abaa Road, and this is laudable.
“The foundation has been thriving for the past 10 years, and now it’s incorporated, which means more development to the communities, Oyo State, Nigeria, and globally,” they stated.
The OBF will serve as a platform to formalize and expand Akika’s philanthropic work, with programs focusing on education, health outreach, youth empowerment, women’s development, and poverty alleviation, especially across communities in Oyo State, Nigeria, and globally.
The launch was attended by traditional leaders, political figures, community advocates, and youth groups, all commending Akika’s unwavering commitment to development and his visionary leadership.
The birthday-turned-foundation-launch has sparked excitement across social and political circles, with many describing the day as a “double celebration of life and legacy.”
As a recipient of the MOFI (Member of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for Outstanding Impact) and the prestigious Grand Leadership Prize (GLP), Akika’s commitment to service and development is well-recognized.
The Omituntun Benedict Foundation is set to make a significant impact in the lives of many, and its launch marks a new chapter in Akika’s journey of service and philanthropy.
