The Oyo North Senatorial District candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the last general elections, Barrister Bayo Lawal has congratulated the Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde over his victory at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
Bayo Lawal in a congratulatory message personally signed by him on Monday, said the decision of the tribunal and the reasons given while delivering the judgment are unassailable.
Recall that the tribunal sitting in Ibadan through its chairman, Justice Muhammed Sirajo, who delivered the unanimous judgment, dismissed the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress, APC and Chief Bayo Adelabu.
“The decision of the tribunal and the reasons given while delivering the judgment are unassailable. Of the three issues before the tribunal, none succeeded. The issues were therefore resolved against the petitioners without any dissenting voice. This showed clearly that the petition was frivolous and lacking in material substance.
“With the judgement therefore, the coast is now crystally clear for the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to proceed unfettered in the delivery of dividends of Democracy. ” he said.
According to the Former Attorney General of the state, the Makinde-led government has started delivering its campaign promises
He said “It is gratifying that even inspite of the pendency of the petition before the tribunal, the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has continuously pursued the implementation of his electioneering promises in the areas of free and qualitative education in Oyo state.
“On this, it is noted that the administration through budgetary review has increased allocation on education from around 4% allocated by APC Government to about 12% now. This is a giant stride for which Governor Makinde must be commended. Ditto to rehabilitation of school buildings and provision of instructional materials for teachers. Needless to remind the good people of Oyo state of proscription of all forms of levies in our schools. ”
The Bamofin of Kisi also added that tribunal victory will enable the Governor to concentrate on development across all sectors in the state.
He said “The judgement will pave the way for the Governor to concentrate on the development of Agriculture, Health care delivery and Infrastructural facilities which have already begun in earnest at the inception of this administration.
“On behalf of our teeming supporters and good people of Oyo North Senatorial District, I heartily congratulate His Excellency, Eng. Seyi Makinde on the huge success recorded at the tribunal, which in itself was a validation of the mandate freely given by the good people of Oyo state on March 9, 2019”.
