Quality of bureaucratic efficiency, quality-of-service delivery and performance accountability have been identified as required frameworks to transform civil service in Nigeria.
Chairman Federal Civil Service Commission, Abuja, Professor Tunji Olaopa, gave the insight at the maiden reunion of Association
of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries of Oyo and Osun
States, AREHSPOOOS, held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Professor Olaopa who was the guest speaker, while speaking on the theme “Re-Engineering the Engine Room: The Civil Service as the Fulcrum of Sustainable Development,” said to transform the country’s civil service to make significant contribution to good governance the three frameworks which include quality of bureaucratic efficiency, quality-of-service delivery and performance accountability is required.
Professor Olaopa, also used the opportunity to commend AREHSPOOOS for taking a bold step by including the lecture that would also be of great benefits those to those who are still in active service.
Earlier in his speech, Chairman of AREHSPOOOS, Chief Adebisi Adesola, said essence of the programme was to stimulate members of the association to remain adequately and intellectually equipped.
Chief Adesola furthermore appreciated members of the association especially local organizing committee of the event led by Chief Bayo Oyero, for their support and contributions towards the success of the maiden celebration of the Association
In his remark, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who called on the senior citizens to continue to contribute to the development of the civil and public services, promised to continue to prioritize welfare of the retired civil servants in the state.
Governor Makinde, represented by Head of Service, Oyo State, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, was adorned the Grand Patron of AREHSPOOOS, while many others who have contributed to the development and growth of society and humanity were also awarded.
Highlight of the event that was graced by active and retired Heads of Service, Permanent Secretaries and civil servants in Oyo and Osun States respectively, also include merriment and life band.
