The All Progressives Congress APC in Oyo state has described voters across the country, and those in the state, as heroes of the current political dispensation as far as democracy was concerned urging them to complete the process of “complete national rebirth by voting the candidates of the broom party in the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections next week Saturday.
The candidate of the APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu was in the early hour of Wednesday declared, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, as the winner of the last Saturday election. The Oyo state chapter had secured a total number of 449, 884 votes for Tinubu while it also won all the three Senatorial seats and eight out of the 14 House of Representatives seat with election into two constituencies yet to be concluded.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and made available to journalists in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, Oyo APC eulogized INEC and other stakeholders for “determination to deepen the nation’s democracy through free and fair conduct of election against all odds as witnessed in recent times.
“We are proud to congratulate the President-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and indeed everyone that contributed in one way or the other to the feat recorded by our great Party in the last Saturday presidential and national assembly elections. Providence has again spoken in favour of the former Lagos state governor who qualifies as the best democrat in the country today and there is no doubting the fact he deserves his recent victory at the February 25, 2023 poll.
“Also, it must be established that Nigerians have again shown to the world that democracy has come to stay in the country as the build up to the election and its conduct generated interest and participation from all quarters. This indicates that the mandate given to Sen. Bola Tinubu is a popular one coming from the majority of votes who participated in the electoral process nationwide. Now that a winner has emerged, all hands must be on deck to facilitate the process of consolidation and national rebirth.
“Sen. Tinubu has all it takes to deliver on the promise of improved security, economic revival, national integration, infrastructural uplift, turnaround in the education sector among other things. He will assemble a team of best brains from the nooks and crannies of the country with a view to making Nigeria a country we can all be proud of as quickly as possible.
“We then use this medium to applaud all patriots in the state who stood their ground and ensure victory for Sen. Tinubu as well as most candidates of our party in the last weekend elections. We charge them to complete their heroic circle by giving massive votes to our gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Teslim Folarin, as well as all the House of Assembly candidates of Oyo APC in the March 11, 2023 election as Oyo cannot afford to be in the hands of an opposition party during Tinubu presidency.” Sadare added.
