Oyo Assembly Member, representing Ibadan South East 2, Hon Segun Popoola has described as ridiculous, spurious and ludicrous the purported rumour of his involvement in the disruption of the All Progressives Congress , APC registration exercise at some units at Oju Odo area of Ibadan on Thursday.
The Lawmaker while reacting to the news wondered why Oyo APC would link him or any PDP stalwart in the State to the disruption of an exercise which had already been embroiled in crisis and hijacked by some factions of the party.
He maintained that a party already divided along four groups, Lamists, Senaco, PDP Reform and Unity Forum should look inward and blame itself for its crisis.
Hon Popoola explained that he was in the area in the company of his driver to monitor one of his ongoing borehole projects and did not have any business with the APC registration exercise going on anywhere.
The Lawmaker said as a duly elected representative of his people and a member that is close to his constituents, he does not go about his Constituency with political thugs and hoodlums like some chieftains of the APC, and stressed that the business of APC which is still nursing its wound of the 2019 election failure and heading for another imminent disgrace in 2023 in Oyo State is not his business.
He added that the misleading and false news was the handiwork of one of the Media aides of an APC Senator in Oyo State who has been accused of working to hijack the structure of the party , and warned such reckless and unprofessional news journalists and bloggers to desist from doing the bidding of some desperate, hapless and hopeless politicians
Hon Popoola challenged the so called eye witness of the scene to release video evidence of his altercations with the Registration officials, and where he reportedly said no registration would take place in the area.
He said such should not be difficult to get by APC apologists and bloggers in this era of smart phones that could record both audio and video scenes clearly and within a twinkle of an eye.
He warned the APC in Oyo State not to drag the PDP or even the State Governor , Engr Seyi Makinde into its crisis adding that the people of Oyo State have rejected the party at both the state and the national levels because of its monumental failures adding that the registration exercise cannot not safe the party from more overwhelming disgrace in future.
