Residents of the 4 local government areas in Oyo town, especially fun-seekers will not forget August 19, 2017 in a hurry. It was a day their prayers was answered. Yinka Afonja, proprietor of ACE Supermarket, opened the first-ever cinema in the ancient town.
Most times, fun-seekers from the town and its environs travel many kilometres to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, to seek fun. With this, more money is expected to circulate within the economy of the town.
While commissioning the beautiful edifice, located on the Oyo-Ogbomosho expressway, Owode, the ecstatic Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi was full of praises for the initiator, adding that he has not only brought development to the town, he has change the face of Oyo. He, however, urged indigenes of the town to cooperate with the founder, warning criminals to steer clear of the property.
Apart from the cinema which can sit 72 people conveniently, the two-storey building houses the supermarket, an eatery and boutique, all owned by Afonja.
According to Afonja, the cinema hall can also be used for seminar, conferences, annual general meeting etc.
