As momentum continues to gather for the coming local government elections in Oyo state, community development advocate and good governance enthusiast, Akinloluwa Akinbode has formally declared his intention to contest for the office of Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, positioning his aspiration within the broader imperative for continuity, institutional strengthening and responsive governance at the grassroots level.
The declaration was made on Sunday, March 29, 2026, during a press briefing with members of the media in Ibadan.
In his address, Akinbode framed his candidacy as both a civic responsibility and a strategic response to increasing stakeholder demand for competent, value-driven leadership capable of consolidating on existing governance gains within the local government.
According to him, the decision to contest is anchored on a clearly defined service philosophy that prioritizes administrative efficiency, participatory governance and sustainable community development.
“This aspiration represents a call to duty,” he stated. “It reflects the expressed expectations of our people for a credible leadership alternative that can effectively consolidate on the achievements of the present administration while advancing a more structured and inclusive governance framework.”
Akinbode further noted that his entry into the race is informed by a personal commitment to exemplify best practices in public leadership, particularly in the areas of accountability, policy responsiveness and institutional performance at the local government level.
The declaration is in compliance with the extant electoral framework as stipulated by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, which has officially opened the campaign window for the forthcoming local government elections.
Providing context to his aspiration, Akinloluwa Akinbode who hails from Owobale village, Ward 3 of Egbeda local government highlighted his sustained engagement in political organization and community development initiatives, which he described as foundational to his governance outlook.
He also acknowledged the leadership models of Gov. Seyi Makinde and Hon. Sikiru Oyedele Sanda, noting that their administrative approaches have significantly influenced his policy orientation and commitment to results-driven governance.
Akinbode solicits the support and cooperation of party leadership, stakeholders and the electorate across Egbeda Local Government, emphasizing the necessity of collective responsibility in achieving sustainable development outcomes.
