Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka, the Ladilu of Oyo kingdom and the Former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, has expressed grief over the passing of his brother and friend, Arakunrin Rotimi Akerodolu.
Illaka in a statement made available to newsmen, on Wednesday, said the Late Ondo Governor was a voice of reason.
The statement reads: “It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of H.E. Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu CON (SAN).
“The nation mourns with his family and celebrates his indelible marks in public service.
“Aketi was loved by many, a true believer in justice and fairness – a course he towed dearly to the very end. Amongst many, he was a voice of reason, one whose counsel resonated well and often brought succor.
“Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu became a darling to Yoruba people of southwest Nigeria when he led five of the six governors in the region united under him to launch the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), known as Amotekun.
“We bid farewell to an extraordinary individual, a beacon of courage, who was admired for his unwavering patriotism and selflessness.
“On a personal note, I always appreciated the good fortune I had with many to have been gifted the privilege to have had him as a brother and friend. His candour, generosity of spirit and warmth always enveloped all those in his presence.”
“I send my deepest condolences to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s family and the people of Ondo state at this difficult time.
“My thoughts and prayers are with you.
“Goodnight Aketi”
