Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State, held its 3rd annual Christmas carol on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the Prof. Adebowale Abiodun Ojo Hall.
The event, initiated by the late Governing Council Chairman, Prof. Abiodun Adebowale Ojo, continues to honor his legacy.
The 2024 Christmas carol was attended by the Acting Rector, Dr. Gbade Akinteye, along with other members of the management team; members of the Governing Council; deans of faculties; directors; heads of units; community and religious leaders; staff; and students.
In his welcome address, Dr. Akinteye expressed gratitude to the Governing Council members, the Christmas carol committee, and the entire polytechnic community for sustaining Prof. Ojo’s legacy. He highlighted the institution’s achievements over the past year, including being rated the 3rd best polytechnic in Nigeria by JAMB and the attainment of PhDs by four staff members.
Reflecting on the late Prof. Ojo’s contributions, Dr. Akinteye said, “Though the initiator has been called home by his Creator, we are here today to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and to honor the legacy of peace and progress he left behind.”
Elder Hon. Johnson Oladele, a Governing Council member, commended the dedication of the institution’s management, highlighting their efforts in sustaining peace and harmony.
The theme of the event, “The Prince of Peace,” was explored in an inspiring message by Rev’d. M.O. Ayoola from First Baptist Church Anko, Eruwa. He delved into the theological and practical interpretations of the title “Prince of Peace” ascribed to Jesus in Isaiah 9:6.
Rev’d Ayoola emphasized that Jesus’ birth symbolizes peace, reconciliation, and hope for humanity, urging the audience to emulate these qualities in their daily lives.
Prayers were offered for the families of late Prof. Ojo, other departed staff, and the entire polytechnic community.
The event concluded with remarks from the Christmas carol committee chairman, Evang. A.S. Jesulowo, who appreciated the management, Governing Council, staff, AOPE Mass Choir, community leaders, religious leaders, and all attendees for their contributions to the success of the 2024 Christmas carol.
