A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo State, Hon. Dare Adeleke has tackled a former coordinator of the party in the state, Dr. Muraina Ajibola over claim that there is no basis for harmonisation in the state chapter of the party.
Insideoyo.com had reported how the National Working Committee of the party allegedly shared the positions in Oyo PDP along Oloye Rashidi Ladoja and Engr. Seyi Makinde’s factions.
The action, insideoyo.com learnt, became necessary following need to harmonised the two factions in the party due to the disagreement that ensued during the party’s congress.
According to Adeleke, who was the state coordinator for SURE-P, the party may lose the 2019 elections if people like Muraina continues to peddle lies.
Muraina, who was a two-term member of the House of Representatives had stated that contrary to lies being peddled by some elements in the party that the Oyo State executives of the party had been shared between two groups, the National Working Committee of the PDP led by Prince Uche Secondus did not tamper with the state’s party exco.
Muraina had said it was erroneous to give the impression that there were groups in the Oyo State PDP, noting that the party remained one under the leadership of former Governor Rashidi Ladoja.
Speaking on the phone with insideoyo.com, Adeleke who was at the meeting where the list was harmonised, said “it is quite unfortunate that people who should have represented us well are distorting facts.”
He said he was in Abuja just like Muraina when the list was harmonised, adding that it was in line with the recommendations of Sen. Ahmed Makarfi for Oyo PDP. Adeleke said Muraina was there, noting that it was unfortunate to see Muraina rejecting the outcome after leaving the meeting.
“We cannot build our party on lies. Muraina is lying. The party builds the electorates. People should be wary of people like Muraina. By his statement, he is saying the NWC of our great party is lying. In fact, the forum of PDP governors, at their meeting in Gombe state, affirmed the harmonisation for Oyo PDP. Nobody is an island.”
“I was present at the meeting with Engr Seyi Makinde, Rt Hon Muikat Adeola, Senator Hosea Ayoola, Alhaji Azim Gbolarumi, Chief Jacob Adetoro and Bashorun Sunday Ogunlade. The other faction was represented by the state Chairman, Senator Femi Lanlehin,Senator Ayoade Adeseun, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli and Muraina Ajibola.Harmonisation list was handed over to us by National organising Secetary of our great party, in the presence of National Deputy Chairman (South) and SW Zonal Chairman, after the National Chairman has addressed us with virtually members of National working committee in attendance.
“I am of opinion that truth must be laid on the table for public consumption. My thought is as good as yours on dominant of a faction to stick to the Excos. A good leader will bring everyone on board rather being factional. I implore the public to continue supporting our great party PDP. We shall have the dynamic and our energetic Seyi Makinde as our rallying point. Harmonization stays,” he added.
