All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu has expressed confidence that he has been chosen by God to be the next governor of the state.
Adelabu, who was the party’s flag bearer during the last general election said the Lord told him that it was not yet his time to become the governor in the last election and that all mistakes he made in the election would be corrected this time around.
Speaking at the old Oyo APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado in Ibadan while declaring his intention to contest next year’s election, the ex-Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) deputy governor maintained that God said 2023 was the right time for him to become governor.
He said all people in Oke-Ogun, Ibarapa, Ogbomosho, Oyo and Ibadan are in support of his ambition, stating that APC has come back strong to reclaim the lost glory of the state currently in the hands of PDP.
The APC aspirant, who was the grandson of Adegoke Adelabu tackled Governor Seyi Makinde’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration, saying that the governor has failed the state in all ramifications. He said: “Schools, hospitals, and education are nothing to write home about, Oyo State security is poor while a lot of residents has lost their lives.”
He however promised all-around development across the state, saying that all zones in the state would experience dividends of democracy if elected as the governor next year.
Other aspirants who are aspiring for the same governorship seat include the Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Teslim Folarin, Chairman, Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) Prof. Adeolu Akande, Engr Akeem Alao, Chief Niyi Akintola and Sen Fatai Buhari among others.
