As a means of boosting the revenue of Itesiwaju local government area of Oyo State internally, the management of the 20-year-old council is set to established a farmers’ market.
The caretaker chairman of the council, Hon. Niyi Adeagbo, during a meeting with the leadership of the farmers’s union, said the project was as a result of the directive of the Oyo State House of Assembly through Oyo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
He added that “arrangement is now in top-gear to establish Itesiwaju Local Farmers Market where farmers will be able to sell their farm produces to retailers and final consumers.”
He disclosed that three locations were suggested while a 10-man committee was setup to unanimously agree a viable location out of the suggested ones.
He commended the Assembly for what he termed progressive collaboration with the Governor Abiola Ajimobi led executive arm in a bid to revolutionise agricultural sector of the state.
