As Muslims’ Ramadan and Christian’s Lent coincide, Special Adviser on Mineral Development to the Oyo State Governor and Director-General of the Oyo State Mineral Development Agency (OYSMIDA), Okunrinjeje Abiodun Oni, has supported leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Olorunsogo Local Government with food items and cash.
Oni, at the programme held in Igbeti, headquarters of Olorunsogo Local Government, last Thursday, said the initiative was to ease the pressure of party leaders at this auspicious time.
Rice and cash gifts were handed over to the party leaders, who lauded Oni and his immense contributions to the growth of the PDP and wellness of its members in Olorunsogo Local Government over the years.
Speaking at the event, the governor’s aide commended leaders and stakeholders of the PDP in Olorunsogo Local Government for their loyalty and commitment to the party despite its challenges as well as their continued support for Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, who has proven to be a dogged democrat.
In a similar development, Okunrinjeje Oni organised an Iftar Programme for PDP leaders across the three local governments of Irepo/Olorunsogo/Oorelope Federal Constituency at his Igbeti residence on Saturday.
Key leaders of the party from Igboho, Kisi and Igbeti were in attendance, including the former Oyo North PDP senatorial chairman, Alhaji Yakubu Oladojo; SA to Governor Makinde on Irepo Federal Constituency, Alhaji Sarafadeen Yusuff Alani (Alwajud); Oyo North PDP senatorial chairman, Hon Yinusa Adekunle Yusuff; former and current Oorelope LG PDP Chairmen, Alhaji Azeez Adeoti and Alhaji Safariyu Oyelowo; SA to the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ayindr Ogede; representative of the Irepo LG chairman and Irepo LG PDP chairman.
From Olorunsogo, the LG Chairman, Hon Qazeem Olayanju; former party chairman, Alhaji Saminu and incumbent party chairman, Shola Adeyemo were also in attendance.
At both gatherings, Oni urged the party leaders to calm all frayed nerves and make their followers know that the PDP is an “apamaku,” and that it would weather all storms.
According to the OYSMIDA Boss, who is also the Executive Chairman of the Pacesetter Mineral Development Company, leaders of the PDP must remain steadfast, as Governor Makinde and a few other heroes would succeed in navigating these difficult times.
He rallied the PDP leaders to continue to support the party, especially as the election season approaches, noting that it is imperative to reclaim the old Irepo Federal Constituency for the PDP.
