No fewer than seven gubernatorial aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state, have collected nomination form for the gubernatorial primaries, insideoyo.com has gathered.
This is coming despite Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s move to ‘slimfit’ the number of candidates to three and series of meetings with the gubernatorial aspirants. Ajimobi at the meetings, urged the governorship aspirants to reach some understanding among themselves to prune their numbers to three for less cumbersome primaries.
They are Adebayo Alao-Akala, Joseph Tegbe, Olusola Ayandele and Adebayo Adelabu .
Others are Barr. Niyi Akintola, Adebayo Shittu and Owolabi Babalola.
Recall that the party said it has extended the deadline from September 10 to September 11.
All aspirants for the positions listed are expected to submit their duly completed forms to the APC National Secretariat and the party’s state secretariats in the case of Houses of Assembly on or before the close of work of the new deadline.
With this development, the seven governorship aspirants will be contesting the party’s ticket in Oyo state. InsideOYO.com had earlier reported that the Oyo APC has adopted indirect mode for its primaries.
