Not fewer than 51 students from the Honourable Olusola Owolabi Adult/Youth Literacy Center have graduated from the Oyo State Agency for Adult and Non formal Education Literacy class in Ibadan, the state capital.
Owolabi, a lawmaker representing Ibadan North East Constituency II at the Oyo State House of Assembly sponsored these students who bagged certificate in Basic Literacy Course Certificate.
The graduation ceremony which was in commemoration of the 2021 International Literacy Day has 213 people graduated and awarded from all centers across the state.
While speaking at the graduation ceremony, Owolabi congratulated the graduands and urged them to hold education in high esteem adding that it plays crucial role in the selection and election of leaders.
He said that Governor Seyi Makinde has invested heavily in education urging them to use the opportunity to further in their education.
While commending ANFEE and NGOs, he said seeking knowledge and getting education is a foundation to good governance.
He said: “Let me use this opportunity to congratulate all graduands here today. I urged everyone to hold education in high esteem. It’s a very crucial thing we put in consideration during selection and election process.
“Our amiable Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has invested heavily in education. Let us all use this opportunity to continue our education. This is not the last bustop, we can still go further.
“I will also like to commend the management and staff of the Oyo State Agency for Adult and Non formal Education Literacy (ANFEE) and Non governmental Organizations (NGOs) for their roles in making this graduation possible.”
Also speaking, one of the graduands, Awolola Lateefat thanked the lawmaker for sponsoring them for the course and prayed for more upliftment.
Another beneficiary, Bola Olatunbosun said she has been able to understand simple English which will help her communication and her business
