Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, on Sunday in Yenagoa, held their nerves to hold Bayelsa United to a goalless draw.
The Nigerian National League (NNL) Match Day Seven, Group B1 encounter played at the Samson Siasia Stadium, saw the homers throwing everything they had into the game.
Right from the blast of the referees’ whistle, the Restoration boys swooped on the visitors, pilling incessant pressure on the Oluyole Warriors in search of the curtain raiser.
They could not get the cutting edge as goalkeeper Lucky Jimoh, stood between them and goal.
The 3SC defence line, made up of skipper Omololu Waheed, Abbey Benson, Ogundimu Mutiu and Taiwo Muritala, had to raise their game to curtail the rampaging Bayelsa United players, who were bouyed by the vociferousness of their supporters.
Although they defended for most part of the first half, the Oluyole Warriors also created few glaring chances but could not hit the target.
The homers started the second half from where they finished the first, apparently needing the maximum points to brighten their chances of topping the group.
