Six Ibadan-based lawyers, Barristers Akeem Agbaje, Yomi Aliyu and Olalekan Ojo are among the 91 lawyers being considered for admission into the rank of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for 2017.
Others from Ibadan are Prof. Oluyemisi Bamgbose, Prof. Oluyinka Osayame Omorogbe and Prof Oladejo Justice Olowu (now Vice Chancellor of American University of Nigeria, Yola) all of the University of Ibadan.
The 67 lawyers and 24 academics were announced by the Secretary of the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee, LPPC and Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Ahmed Saleh.
The statement said that the shortlisted lawyers have scaled through the first and second filtration processes and have been found worthy to attend the interview preparatory to the award of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The statement noted that the LPPC welcomes comments from the public as regards the integrity, reputation and competence of the shortlisted candidates.
It also read that any member of the public who has any complaint about any of the shortlisted lawyers must file same before the LPPC not later than June 5, 2017, adding that such a complaint must be accompanied with a verifying affidavit deposed to before a court of record in Nigeria.
