Three female teachers were on Monday crushed to death in Alapako area of Ogun State on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
A Toyota Camry with registration number EPE 140 BP ran into the teachers and others when one of its tyres removed on motion, leading to loss of control by the driver.
The women were said to be standing by the road side alongside several other commuters.
The Public Relations Officer of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the development on Tuesday.
Akinbiyi said: “The front tyre of the car removed on motion, the driver lost control and hit the women standing by the roadside, who were school teachers waiting for bus that will take them to Ibadan.
“Three persons died while one person was injured in the accident.”
He said others injured in the accident were taken by operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps from Ogunmakin office in Ogun State to Victory Hospital, Ogere, while the corpses of the teachers were deposited at FOS Mortuary, Ipara, both in Ogun State.
