Sarafadeen Ajigbayi, has dragged his wife Suliat Ajigbayi before Mokola Grade ‘C’ Customary court sitting at Inalende, Ibadan, Oyo State, for divorce on the account that she’s troublesome and makes him undergo financial stress any time she delivers through caesarean session.
According to the 29-year-old man, he married his wife five years ago and the union is blessed with two children.
Sarafadeen told the court that each time his wife underwent caesarean operation, the burden of paying the hospital bill fell on him.
According to him, he was once forced to sell his television set to offset the balance of the bill after their second child’s delivery.
“My wife is troublesome and I have had to sleep outside the house when I couldn’t tolerate her misbehavior,” Rafiu said.
Responding to the allegations against her, 26-year-old Suliat Adegbayi told the court that she is ready for divorce because her mother-in-law does not like her.
“After delivery, I stayed back in the hospital for proper monitoring. I pitied my mother-in-law because of the stress she was going through having to climb the stair case many times in a day. I, therefore, suggested that she should stay back at home and rest while my mother comes to relieve her but she got me wrong. She vented her anger on me on our child’s christening day.
“My husband lied that he was solely responsible for the payment of the operation bill. My parents also contributed some amount.
“He is an adulterer. I came across text messages he and his lover were exchanging on his phone on a particular night.
“I chewed the SIM card when he pounced on me and beat me. This I believe would stop their communication.
After listening to the duo, the court president, Mr Olafenwa Ramoni Ola-city, dissolved their marriage and ordered the plaintiff to pay N4, 000 every month for their children’s feeding.
He was also to pay the defendant N3, 000 to pack her belongings out of his house and another N12,000 to secure a better accommodation.
