The second baby of the year, a girl was born at Oluyoro Catholic Hospital to the family of Mr and Mrs Dada. Born at 03: 00 a.m., she weighs 3.4kg.

The third baby, a boy, was born at 04:20 a.m. at Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, Yemetu.

While speaking, the mother of the first new year baby, Mrs Itunnu thanked the wife of the Governor for the kind gesture. She urged mothers to dedicate enough time for their babies.

She said: “I give glory to God. I want to urge all mothers that we should dedicate enough time for our babies as they grow up everyday.

“I pray God in his infinity mercy should bless Her Excellency for the gifts.”

Also speaking, Mrs Makinde thanked God for the safe delivery and congratulated all mothers while urging them to take care of their babies.

She urged women to come out and vote in their numbers for the re-election of Governor Seyi Makinde and other candidates as we approach the general elections.

She advised those that are yet to collect their voters card to collect it to enable them vote.

Her words: “The message Her Excellency, Engineer (Mrs) Tamunonini Makinde sent us was to give mothers and new year babies gift, money and to urge them take good care of their babies. May God look after them for us.

“I observed that the mothers were happy to receive us and the gift. I want to urge all women to come out and vote. We all know that women have larger percentage in vote. So, in Oyo state, they should vote for Engineer Seyi Makinde who has been doing wonderfully well for him to continue his good work.

“I also want to urge everyone to go and collect their voter’s card for them to vote for the right person.”
