The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader in Oyo state, Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye, has rejected the postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly elections masterminded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the polls for President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a press statement personally signed by Asiwaju Adeoye, the youth leader expressed rejection, but called on the teeming electorate of the state to remain calm in a bid to return the country to true democracy this year.
Against the planned arrangement to conduct the election today, the INEC had cited logistics and operational plans and the to conduct free, fair and credible elections as reasons for the postponement and fixed February 23 and March 9 for Presidential/National Assembly and Governorship/House of Assembly elections respectively.
Asiwaju Adeoye stated that the recent realities have seriously shown that the APC is a rejected party and urged the voters to continue supporting the PDP in the rescheduled elections.
He said, “This is a clear indication that the APC has been rejected. I urge the electorate to continue in their love for the PDP and I must commend the electorate for identifying the party. That is why I have expressed rejection of the postponement.
“I want to enjoin the voters to go out en-masse on February 23 and vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, our senatorial and house representatives candidates. I also advise all and sundry to vote Enginer Seyi Makinde and PDP’s House of Assembly candidates across board.”
Asiwaju Adeoye, in the press statement, lauded the leadership of the PDP in the state for the strategic mobilisation towards the postponed elections.
