The member representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abass Adigun (aka Agboworin) has on Friday empoweed over 1000 constituents in different capacities.
Speaking at the empowerment programme, Agboworin said the empowerment programme was his own little way of complementing the giant strides taken so far Governor Oluwaseyi Makinde in his quest to see to the rapid socio-economic development of Oyo State.
He added that he hope beneficiaries will make judicious use of the items so as to create wealth for themselves and their families.
His words: “In my almost 2 years in the House of Representatives, I have continuously strove to impact positively on the lives of my constituents.
“Apart from my active involvement in legislative activities at plenary and committee levels, I have also engaged in series of initiatives to improve the living standard and general well-being of my constituents.
“This empowerment programme is my own little way of complementing the giant strides taken so far by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Governor Oluwaseyi Makinde in his quest to see to the rapid socio-economic development of Oyo State.
“Today we shall be distributing items such as Grinding Machines, Motorcycles, Hair-Dryers, Generators etc.
“It is my expectation that the beneficiaries will make judicious use of these items so as to create wealth for themselves and their families.
“We will also be giving some persons and groups financial support to help boost their businesses.
“To some of our party members and supporters that did not benefit today, please be rest assured that this empowerment programme will be a continuous exercise and your time will surely come.
“In the coming months, series of empowerment programme will be lined as uplifting the living standard of my constituents is my utmost priority; and I will continue to strive to ensure that all my electioneering campaign promises are fulfilled.
“I assure you that I will continue to do my best to give you quality representation and ensure that the dividends of democracy are delivered to the good people of Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South East Federal constituency of Oyo State. Agboworin who is also the Deputy Chairman House Committee On Airforce, talked about the estimate of the empowerment programme.
He said “I can’t give the actual estimate but I know it’s something close to eighty or ninety million naira. You can see the ambulances, they are all brand new, one of them is about twenty five million plus. And we also give over eight hundred thousand cash grants for them to use for their business and all the items. You can check them, they are over 200 or 300 items for people in my constituency.
“Yes, we can say over one thousand people benefited from this empowerment.”
Our correspondent reports that 6 Generating sets, 30 motorcycles, 65 grinding machines, 35 sewing machines, 35 hair dryers, 2 ambulances were distributed.
Some other things distributed were five hundred thousand naira for Owode market, five hundred thousand naira for Iso Apo Ojaba market both in Ibadan South East, five hundred thousand naira for Basorun market, five hundred thousand naira for Orayan market in Ibadan North East and others.
Some dignitaries present at the event were Senator Kola Balogun, Former First Lady, Mrs Mutiat Ladoja, PDP Southwest Zonal Women Leader, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, OYRTMA Boss, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, Pace Setter Transport Chairman, Mr Dare Adeleke, Engineer Dotun Sanusi and others.
