WHEN the Oyo State House of Assembly announces names of caretaker committee chairmen sent by Governor Abiola Ajimobi next Tuesday, Atiba, AFIJIO, Oyo East, Oyo West and Orire local government areas and 6 local council development areas (LCDAs) created from the affected councils will have no nominees, InsideOyo has reliably gathered.
Though details of how the affected councils are going to be administered are still sketchy, heads of local government administration may be asked to take over pending the resolution of the case instituted against the state government by some Baales.
The Baales had gone to court following what they called ‘ceding of our villages to other LGAs and LCDAs without any referedum among other things’. They alleged that many villages in Oyo East and Oyo West were ceded to AFIJIO and villages in Atiba to Orire (LCDAs).
The case, it would recalled, put a stop to preparation for election, earlier scheduled for February this year.
At the first hearing, the state government, having met with the appelants, notified the court of bid to settle the matter out of court and the court fixed March 22 for the parties to bring a formal paper, to serve as evidence.
The state, it was learnt, failed to bring the paper on the fixed date and the court had to adjourn, an action which made the state government to select caretaker chairmen for the councils and LCDAs to fill the vacuum.
It was gathered that the caretaker committee will be dissolved immediately the case is resolved by the court.
