The Senator representing Oyo North senatorial district, Dr Abdulfatai Buhari has obtained nomination and expression of interest forms to seek re-election into the National Assembly under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Buhari who has earlier shown interest in the race for Oyo governorship race has dumped the race to return to Abuja, an insider confirmed to insideOYO.com.
The former House of Representatives member, Buhari who hails from Ogbomoso is the Chairman Senate committee on Information Communication Technology (ICT) and has been adjudged as the best amongst other National legislators representing the state specifically the present 8th Assembly.
Buhari who has earlier said that direct primaries is a suitable means of selective candidates for elective positions in Nigeria will be slugging it out with other aspirants to clinch the party ticket ahead of 2019 elections.
“How many people will you buy to vote for you during the primaries , you cannot be everywhere, even you will be struggling to win your ward and people who have no direct relationship with people at the grassroots or any input in the society prior that time will be placed where they belongs” he said.
Buhari also argued that indirect primaries will afford every card carrying members of the party the opportunity to vote for an aspirant of their choice without any form of inducements.
“In Osun state the person that won the gubernatorial primary already have over 120,000 votes from APC members alone he just need to do more campaign to canvass members of the public and maintain cordial relationships with the party.”
